Hello, Rockby Jolly Roger Bradfield
Although Roger Bradfield wrote this charming little book almost fifty years ago, it reads as though it was penned (and illustrated) just yesterday. It celebrates the spark of magic we call “imagination” that lives within each child. The child in this book feels perfectly at ease talking and dreaming with his favorite rock. Have you ever chatted with an inanimate object? If not, you’ve missed out on some interesting conversation.
Available in English and bilingual English/Spanish editions. So you can compare the two editions, here are low-res two-page spreads of each:
This book was first printed in 1965 and contains the following reference to Native Americans. It will be edited to say “and hide from Giants” in the next printing, featuring the legs and feet of a giant that Roger Bradfield drew for Giants Come in Different Sizes. We apologize for not modifying it sooner.
