How do I get free shipping?
The shopping cart checkout page automatically displays the option for free shipping in the US (via media mail) on orders that are $50 or more, not including tax. Important…you must manually select free shipping at the bottom of the checkout page!
How do I search for a certain author’s books?
Click the search button on the top bar. Type the author’s name or a portion of it into the search field. Search will return the author’s picture, click on the photo to see their bio and a list of books available from Purple House Press. Search will also display books which have your search term in the book description.
Alternatively, you may click on “AUTHORS” on the top bar to see the list of Purple House Press authors, click on a photo to see the author’s bio and book list.
What are bargain books?
Bargain books are 60-75% off! They have been returned to us from our wholesaler and have bumps or blemishes, but no major problems. Bargain books make nice reading copies to give to your children and have remainder marks, which means they were sold at a discount.
Quantities are limited. If a Bargain Book has no “ADD TO CART” button, then it is out of stock. Also if the cart button only goes up to 3, for example, then only three copies are in stock. If no copies are in stock, try checking back occasionally because we update quantities as more become available.
Bargain books may be returned, but with thousands sold it hasn’t happened once since 2000.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes! Please email us the list of items you’d like to order along with your address and we’ll send you a shipping quote.
The only exception has been the few times we’ve published a new sequel to one of our author’s books from decades ago. We did this for The Mad Scientists’ Club series, the Alvin Fernald series and Pickle-Chiffon Pie.
I want to suggest a title for reprint, who do I contact?
Send us an email. We’re happy to learn about the books people are looking for and remember from their childhood.
Please be aware that we normally release four to six titles a year and are very careful about what we select. It’s an expensive and time-consuming process (which Jill happens to enjoy), to acquire publishing rights to a book and then produce it. In the longest case, the author’s family needed seven years to come to a consensus before giving us the right to do the book. Persistence is the key!
I’m the author of an out-of-print book, will you republish it for me?
Yes we will consider it. Please send us more information by email, including any awards your book has won. If we need more information we will get back to you, but please remember we only do four to six new titles a year and that we cannot return review copies.
How do returns work?
You may return any book or merchandise that you’re not happy with. We ask that it’s returned in as-new condition, unless it’s a bargain book…but since 2000 nobody has returned one of those! You’ll need to pay for returning the item and your initial shipping charge is non-refundable. If you’re returning something that had free shipping, or if returning one item takes you below the threshold to receive free shipping, then we will deduct our shipping cost from your refund. We hope you won’t want to return an item, our return rate is much lower than the publishing industry as a whole, but we do understand.
