Morrell Gipson grew up in South Carolina and now resides in New York City. She was the author of a dozen books for young children. Ms. Gipson had a wide-ranging literary career; in addition to being an author she edited hundreds of children’s books for Doubleday, Scribner’s, Crowell, Lippincott and Metheun. She worked with such luminaries as Margaret Wise Brown, the d’Aulaires and Marguerite de Angeli.
Her education included a Bachelor’s Degree with honors in American History and Journalism from South Carolina College for Women.
